Find Jefferson County Release Dates

A Jefferson County inmate projected release date answers when a sentenced prisoner may leave physical custody under the current calculation. It is not a promise of actual departure. A pretrial detainee at the regional jail usually has no computed prison release date because bond, court action, holds, and facility processing control the event. A sentenced state prisoner may have a Projected Release Date in the corrections record. To answer “when will they be released,” identify the custody type first, then compare the official sentence calculation, court orders, parole record, and any detainer.

Jefferson Projected Versus Actual Release

WVDCR evidence uses the field label “Projected Release Date.” The Parole Board also uses minimum discharge date, or MDD, for the date a prisoner can expect to leave DCR custody if the person is not paroled, does not escape, and does not lose good time. Both are calculations. The actual release date records the event after required checks and processing.

Scheduled is not actual. A projected date can change, and even a court or parole decision may precede physical departure or transfer.

A pretrial Jefferson detainee at ERJ is different. Bond, dismissal, a release order, another case, and detainers determine whether and when the person leaves. Do not apply the state-prison good-time formula to a pretrial stay. For a short local sentence, obtain the court order and official DCR calculation.

Find Jefferson County Projected Release

First decide whether the person is in regional-jail custody or serving a state prison sentence. Eastern Regional Jail uses the jail branch. Martinsburg Correctional Center and Jail is a male state intake and classification unit, so a person moved there belongs in the prison branch.

  1. Open the WVDCR Offender Search gateway and choose Jails or Prisons based on custody type.
  2. Search by exact legal name and OID when known. Confirm birth date and facility before reading sentence fields.
  3. For a prison record, locate Projected Release Date and note any Next Parole Hearing or Maximum Parole Discharge Date separately.
  4. Obtain the sentencing order and credit information from the Jefferson court record.
  5. Ask DCR Records for the official timesheet or minimum-discharge calculation when the public result is missing or unclear.
  6. Check VINE and the facility record near the date for the actual custody change.

The Jefferson County released-inmate lookup provides the wider search when the person is no longer returned by either WVDCR branch. Public retention of every fully discharged prison record is not guaranteed.

West Virginia Good-Time Release Rules

West Virginia Code §15A-4-17 governs good time for eligible committed adults. The verified general framework grants one day of good time for each day physically incarcerated, including qualifying presentence jail days credited by the sentencing court under §61-11-24. No good time accrues while on parole, bond, or another nonincarcerated status. Life sentences do not earn it.

Consecutive eligible sentences are treated as an aggregate. Good time may be forfeited for disciplinary violations and restored under the statute. DCR must provide a sentence and minimum-discharge statement and revise it when forfeiture or restoration changes the calculation. Certain approved academic or vocational programs may support extra credit within statutory limits. The official timesheet and sentencing orders control, so a public summary should not be used to calculate a personal date.

The official good-time statute shows the controlling West Virginia provisions.

Why Jefferson Release Dates Change

Several events can alter the calculation or the actual departure. Keep each date label intact rather than replacing all of them with “release date.”

FactorEffect
Good-time forfeiture or restorationMoves the minimum-discharge calculation
Presentence creditChanges credited time under the court order
Consecutive or modified sentenceChanges the aggregate term
Detainer or receiving agencyMay prevent community release on the projected date
Parole decisionMay create a conditional release path but not an instant gate-out
Mandatory supervisionMoves the last part of qualifying sentences into supervised release

For some offenses, the statute shifts a final portion into mandatory post-release supervision. Physical confinement ends, but sentence duties continue. This is distinct from maximum parole discharge, which concerns the end of supervision.

Confirm Jefferson County Release Dates

Register through the VINELink Release Check for a status-change alert, then confirm the event through DCR or the facility record. VINE can lag during transit. A projected date followed by a transfer is not community release. Ask for the physical-departure time, release type, and destination.

DCR Records, not the Parole Board, owns timesheets and minimum-discharge questions. The Board owns its decision and hearing record. ERJ owns the regional-jail movement, while the sentencing court owns its orders. Combining those sources produces a date that is both labeled and supported.

No Blanket West Virginia 85% Rule

No blanket West Virginia rule requiring every prisoner to serve 85 percent was found in the official sources. Importing the federal credit system or another state's rule would produce a false date. West Virginia uses its verified good-time framework alongside offense-specific minimums, exclusions, court orders, parole rules, and mandatory-supervision provisions.

Parole eligibility is also not a release date. General eligibility rules can refer to the minimum of an indeterminate sentence or part of a definite term, but §62-12-13a makes clear that consideration is not a right to release. Next Parole Hearing, parole eligibility date, Projected Release Date, MDD, and actual departure are separate fields.

Jefferson Regional-Jail Release Dates

A Jefferson pretrial detainee usually has no fixed projected release date. The court can set bond or enter a release order, yet ERJ must still process the event and check other holds. A dismissal in one case also does not resolve another case or detainer. Ask the Jefferson clerk for the signed order and ERJ for the later physical-departure record.

A parole grant from a regional jail has another local timing issue. Board guidance says the person first transfers to a DCR facility for intake and fingerprinting, and actual release may follow days later. The grant date is a decision date. It must not be published as the physical release date.

Bond and time served also require careful labels. Bond permits release while the case continues, but processing and other holds can delay departure. Time served means the credited term permits release on that case. Neither phrase proves that no other authority has a lawful hold. The ERJ release record should identify whether the person entered the community or went to another custodian.

Jefferson Release Date Definitions

Several dates may appear in the same record set. Projected Release Date is the OIS calculation field. MDD is the minimum discharge date if specified assumptions hold. A parole eligibility date marks when consideration may begin. Next Parole Hearing concerns an interview. Maximum Parole Discharge Date concerns the possible end of supervision. None should be silently substituted for another.

Projected Release Date
The current corrections estimate based on the sentence calculation.
Minimum discharge date
The expected DCR custody end if stated assumptions remain true.
Parole eligibility date
A point for possible Board consideration, not a release promise.
Actual release
The recorded physical departure or handoff after processing.
Maximum parole discharge
A supervision endpoint, not the prison gate date.

When two dates differ, ask which agency created each and what event it describes. DCR Records answers timesheet questions. The Board answers parole decisions. The court answers sentence and credit orders. ERJ or the prison facility answers physical movement.

Jefferson Mandatory Release Supervision

For specified offenses, §15A-4-17 can move part of accumulated good time into a mandatory post-release supervision period. Other provisions may permit a qualifying supervised-release plan of shorter duration. This means confinement can end while sentence duties remain active. A projected date should therefore be paired with any supervision notation.

Mandatory supervision is not the same as a parole grant. Its source, terms, and calculation arise through the applicable statute and official DCR record. Do not infer the exact conditions from a public date. Request the calculation statement and release paperwork when the distinction matters.

A detainer can still change where the person goes. The end of DCR confinement may lead to another agency rather than a home address. Ask for the receiving authority and do not describe a handoff as unrestricted community release.

Request Jefferson Release Calculations

DCR Records is the proper source for a prison timesheet, jail credit, PED, and minimum-discharge questions. A useful request includes the full name, OID, sentencing court, case number, facility, and the specific calculation sought. Ask for the current statement and any revision that explains a changed date.

The sentencing court remains essential. Presentence credit must be supported by the court record, and a later modification can alter the term. If the public OIS field reads “Not Available,” do not fill the gap with arithmetic. Obtain the official timesheet and signed orders.

Near the projected date, use VINE for notice and confirm with the custodian. That final check distinguishes a calculated milestone from an actual departure, transfer, or supervised-release start.

Jefferson Parole Eligibility Dates

West Virginia parole eligibility is separate from minimum discharge. Under §62-12-13, general rules refer to the minimum of an indeterminate term or a portion of a definite term, with exclusions and special offense rules. Firearm cases, life sentences, and other statutes can impose different minimums. The public record should not be used to apply those rules to a person without the official sentence data.

Section 62-12-13a supplies the key warning: an eligibility point permits consideration but does not create a right to release. The Board may deny, set up another hearing, or grant parole subject to later requirements. Actual departure still comes from the DCR movement record.

Keep the next hearing date in its own field. A scheduled interview can move or may not produce a grant. A grant at ERJ is followed by the local intake process already described. None of those dates should overwrite Projected Release Date or MDD.

Jefferson Release Date Verification Gaps

Public OIS examples can display “Not Available” for a date field. That is not a zero term, immediate release, or proof that the sentence ended. Search the correct jail or prison branch, preserve the exact display, and contact DCR Records with the OID and sentencing case. A formal calculation statement is the proper fallback when the public result is blank or no longer retained.

Ask whether the statement reflects all consecutive terms, credited presentence days, forfeited or restored good time, and any mandatory-supervision adjustment. Those questions identify the components without attempting a private recalculation. If the court and DCR credit totals differ, obtain the signed order and the latest DCR revision, then ask the agencies to resolve the documented gap.

A release date may also be accurate for one custodian yet incomplete for the person. An immigration detainer, federal pickup, or another state hold can begin as DCR custody ends. Request the destination with the physical-departure record so the projected milestone is not misreported as unrestricted community release.

Record the date on which the calculation was obtained. Good-time action, a new order, or sentence correction can make an older statement stale. Near the expected date, repeat the official check and use the actual movement record for the final event.
